Videotage is pleased to participate in NEW PLATFORM – Alternative Asia, presented by Art Center NEW in Japan. As Art Center NEW’s first art expo centred on Asia, the event will feature 31 alternative art spaces and collectives from East and Southeast Asia, showcasing their collaborative, experimental and innovative ideas.

“mind the ____” — a ubiquitous reminder in notices. What else would art practitioners be ‘mindful’ of? Under the theme mind the _____, our showcase intentionally leaves the daily reminders blank and invites visitors to explore the details that often go unnoticed.

The theme also reflects how artists, through time-based practices, respond to their surroundings—whether through encounters with unexpected sights during their journeys, stock materials circulating online, a corner of the city, or the movement sparked by circuit components. Each of these fragments can serve as a point of departure for creation. When contemplated closely, these practices form a collective portrait that highlights the medium’s experimental and multifaceted nature.

We will feature the moving image and installation works by nine Hong Kong artists, which are available for acquisition. Also on view will be the installation works by Netherlands-based artist Janne Schimmel, developed during his three-month residency in Hong Kong. Proceeds from the showcase will support Videotage’s publishing initiatives and will also be shared with the participating artists to sustain their future practices.

mind the _____──日常生活中，標示與提醒無所不在。如果從藝術家的視角出發，他們會關注什麼？錄映太奇以《mind the _____》為展示主題，將那些來自他人的日常提示「留白」，邀請觀眾在展場攤位中探索、發掘常被忽略的細節。

此主題亦呼應藝術家透過時基創作，回應周遭的多樣思路──無論是旅途中的尋常奇景、網絡間的共享素材，抑或城市一隅、電路零件所激發的動能，再小再微的元素皆可成為創作的起點。若細視各藝術家的創作實踐，所呈現的群像勾勒出時基媒介的實驗及多樣面向。

本次將展出九位香港藝術家的流動影像和裝置作品，並可供有興趣者收藏。同場亦將展示荷蘭藝術家雅內．希梅爾早前在香港駐留時製作的裝置作品。活動所得收益除支持錄映太奇的出版計劃外，亦將回饋藝術家，支持其日後創作。
