VMAC Forum - Time-based Media Collection and AccessibilityVMAC Forum -

20/02/2023

The proliferation of time-based media has led to the question of archiving and preserving — in what ways a collection of video and media arts is able to engage with the ever-changing media technology, artistic formats and even socio-political contexts? We have invited the representatives of two notable institutions to formulate a dialogue – Gaby Wijers, the director of LIMA (Amsterdam) and Anna Lena Seiser, the General Manager and Head of Video-Forum of n.b.k (Berlin) to share their experiences in both archiving and preserving. Their sharing will shed light on the capacity and difficulties in archiving and preserving time-based media as an institution, which also allow us to rethink these contemporary cultural practices.
