I have always been filming subjects related to my hometown, and this time I also tried creating the sound myself.
My hometown is a steel factory with a code name: 6985. I am the third generation to grow up here.

This story involves a crucial historical context known as the “transition from public to private ownership.” My parents experienced the arrival of this reform firsthand, as new private enterprises replaced the old state-owned ones. Under these new development policies, some people were forced to become “excess capacity,” turning into victims of supply-side reform.

After the new private companies arrived, they began to renovate the centralized heating pipelines—symbols of the “public”—in order to charge higher heating fees. These pipelines were rebuilt in a violent and rough manner, shaping an especially coarse, silver-colored world.

Such industrial cities are also called the “eldest sons of the Republic.” The new Tiantie will replace the old Tiantie; the new world will replace the old one. This is the trajectory of all social transformations.

We will forever live inside society’s factory,
becoming metal screws ourselves.
When we bend our bodies,
we begin to shine.

我一直拍攝關於家鄉的題材，這次也嘗試了自己製作聲音。
我的故鄉是一座鋼鐵廠，有一個代號叫 6985。我是這裡的第三代人民。

這其中涉及一個非常重要的時代背景，稱為「公轉私」。我的父母正面臨著這樣的改革到來——新的私營企業取代了舊有的國營企業。在這樣的新發展政策之下，有一部分人不得不成為「剩餘產能」，成為供給側改革的犧牲品。

新的私企進來之後，開始對那些象徵著「公」的集中供暖管道進行改造，以便收取更多的取暖費。但在建造這些管道的過程中，採取了暴力且粗糙的方式，於是塑造出一個格外粗獷的銀色世界。

這樣的工業城市也被稱為「共和國長子」。新的天鐵將取代舊的天鐵，新的世界會取代舊的世界，這是所有社會變革的趨勢。

我們將永遠活在社會的工廠裡
