A video performance superimposes five layers of video footage where each layer features a massage session focusing on one of the five senses: eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and skin. Playing with the opaciAes of the five video layers, it creates a fluid and ever changing reality between movements and facial expressions. The five senses – is how we experience the world as humans, and they are interrelated. 

KOK Siew-Wai started out as a video artist, now active as an artist curator/organizer and vocal improviser. She lived and worked in USA from 1998-2005, received her B.A. in Media Study at State University of New York at Buffalo; and her M.F.A. in Electronic Integrated Arts at Alfred University, USA. Siew-Wai has shown her video works, performed and presented her curatorial video programmes in Asia, Australia, Europe, Canada and USA. She has participated in international festivals including Image Forum Festival 2019 (Japan), CTM Festival 2019 (Germany), Kaohsiung Film Festival 2018 (Taiwan), allEars Improvised Music Festival 2018 (Norway), Nusasonic 2018 (Indonesia), Singapore International Film Festival 2015, Asian Meeting Festival 2015 (Japan), Arkipel 2015 (Indonesia), Asian Experimental Video Festival in Hong Kong 2014, International Film Festival Rotterdam 2007 (Netherlands), Les Rencontres Internationales 2007 (France/Germany), Beyond/In Western New York Biennial 2005 (USA) and many more. Her video text + vocal improvisation performance piece “Language of Self” (2011/2014) was collected by the He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen, China. Siew-Wai has a genuine passion for the experimental and improvisational arts. She set up the artist collective Studio in Cheras Kuala Lumpur (SiCKL) with her peers in 2006, and involved in the organization of many grassroots film/video and music events. In 2010, Siew-Wai co-founded the Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film, Video & Music Festival (KLEX) and has since taken up the task as the festival director and co-curator until the present. She was a lecturer at the Faculty of Creative Multimedia, Multimedia University, Malaysia from 2006-2022.
