Counter-clockwise Creation: From Reflection to Reinvention逆時創作：從回望出發的媒體藝術實踐
Counter-clockwise Creation: Reflection and Reinvention in Media Art marks Videotage’s 40th anniversary by bringing works, memories and technologies into conversation across generations. Artists revisit earlier works or explore the Videotage Media Art Collection (VMAC), considering how past works can inspire new interpretations and creative possibilities in the present.
From film, videotape, digital imagery, virtual worlds and artificial intelligence, the exhibition seeks to move beyond viewing technology through the lens of old and new, exploring how media evolution shapes our experience of time, memory and reality.
Artists take the city as an anchor for their work. Tram journeys, public-housing doorways, trees, popular culture and urban transitional spaces reflect experiences of belonging, change and everyday life. The works also look beyond images to the mechanisms of looking, examining how media technologies and social conditions jointly shape visual culture.
Looking back against the grain of time is a way of moving forward. The exhibition carries on Videotage’s commitment to exploring technology through creativity and critical thinking. Through experimental, interdisciplinary media art practices, it makes the less visible mechanisms behind media tangible and perceptible.
《逆時創作：從回望出發的媒體藝術實踐》以作品、記憶與技術展開跨時代對話，慶祝錄映太奇成立四十週年。藝術家重訪早期作品或探索錄映太奇媒體藝術庫藏，思考過往作品如何在當下開展新的詮釋與創作可能。
從菲林、錄影帶、數碼影像、到虛擬世界與人工智能，展覽試圖跳脫以新舊二分科技的視角，並探討媒介的演變如何塑造我們對時間、記憶與現實的體驗。
藝術家以城市作為創作錨點，並以電車旅程、公共屋邨的門廊、樹木、流行文化，以及城市中的過渡空間，映照歸屬、變遷與日常經驗。作品亦從影像延伸至觀看的機制，探討媒介技術與社會條件如何共同塑造視覺文化。
逆時回望，亦是邁向前方的一種方式。展覽延續錄映太奇以創意與批判思維探索科技的期許，並透過實驗性、跨界別的媒體藝術實踐，讓媒介背後不易察覺的機制變得可感、可知。
