Jonathan KAN

Jonathan KAN

biography /

Jonathan Kan (b. 1997) is an animation filmmaker and visual artist whose practice drifts through the porous boundaries of experimental animation and new media. Shaped by lived experience and the ever-changing landscape of his city, Kan works primarily with time-based media and live new media performance, to explore the concept of ephemerality through a non-linear lens. Abstracting context into layers of feeling, he invites audiences to connect not through conventional narrative, but through presence—where image, sound, speech, and pacing unfold in real time. His work employs rhythm, layered repetition, and textured frames to evoke the fragmentation of memory and the nuanced, bodily experience of time.
