Strangers in a Strange Place: Artist Residency Exchange on Migration
Part of Art Basel 2016
Berlin x Hong Kong – 2 world capitals built up through migration.
Videotage (Hong Kong) x MOMENTUM (Berlin) – 2 institutions on new media art.
1 Artist Exchange to bring to light the experiences of immigrant communities.
Strangers in a Strange Place is a trans-national project to raise the awareness on the experiences of the immigrants in the epicenters of Asia and Europe – Hong Kong and Berlin – through an artist exchange program.
Your contribution will support two promising emerging artists – Amir Fattal (Berlin) and Morgan Wong (Hong Kong) – to work with immigrant communities in the artist exchange programs of the partner cities – FUSE Artist Residency by Videotage in Hong Kong, and MOMENTUM Artist Residency by MOMENTUM in Berlin respectively. The artists will collaborate with the immigrant communities and local creative groups to distill the essence of their immigrating experiences into an art work. Besides exploring issues related to migration, the exchange artists will participate in a series of workshops and lectures in the local art scene of their host cities during their exchange.
