Jason Hendrik Hansma is Videotage’s artist in residence under FUSE Artist Residency, the only media art-focused accelerator program in Hong Kong offering a multi-disciplinary platform and intellectual resources for overseas and local artists, curators and researchers.

Jason Hendrik Hansma’s solo exhibition at Videotage, entitled ‘FUSE Artist Residency – Jason Hendrik Hansma: Opaline (Lattimo)’, will take place from 23 March to 26 April 2019, with a series of activities such as artist talk, reading session, and a meet-the-audience brunch. As a recurring text used by Hansma for describing the exhibition idea of containment and vessels as political forms of separation, “Iridescent shells can be used as small bowls the same for cupped hands, protecting us from unmaking. Shapes reconfigure actions – iteration after iteration, iridescence is refractive, colours bounce from the position of eyes.”

Jason Hendrik Hansma 是錄映太奇 FUSE 駐場計劃的駐留藝術家。FUSE 駐場計劃是香港目前唯一專注於媒體藝術的藝術家駐場計劃，為海外和本地藝術家、策展人和研究員提供一個跨界別的平台並協助他們物色資源。

Jason Hendrik Hansma在錄映太奇的個展「FUSE 駐留藝術家 – Jason Hendrik Hansma：Opal​​ine（Lattimo）」將於2019年3月23日至4月26日舉行，其中包括藝術家講座、讀書會、與觀眾見面等一系列活動。Hansma描述有關容器作為政治形式分離的展覽意念時，重複提到「暈彩貝殼可用作小碗，同樣適用於手掌，保護我們免受傷害。 形狀跟動作配合 – 反反覆覆，折射出暈彩，從眼睛位置反射出顏色。」

The opening reception of ‘FUSE Artist Residency – Jason Hendrik Hansma: Opaline (Lattimo)’ will be followed by an artist talk, Jason Hendrik Hansma will be in dialogue with Dr. Lam, Hau Ling Eileen, art historian from The Education University of Hong Kong, moderated by Angel Leung, Programs Manager of Videotage. Two speakers will exchange the ideas of containment and vessels and the imitative relationship between ceramic and glass with the audience in the talk.

In collaboration with our Venue Sponsor Po Leung Kuk’s artist residence space V54, Videotage will organize a reading session with Jason Hendrik Hansma. The reading will provide different perspectives to interpret the artworks, set in a dark room at night and similar to a cinema environment with only the monologue.

Jason Hendrik Hansma (born in 1988, Lahore, Pakistan) is an artist working in film, installation and photography. His works explore history, memory, nature and liminality in order to engage new possible emergent phenomena. Exhibitions, performances, readings and screenings have been included in Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst, Parc Saint-LégerCentre d’art Contemporain, Rupert, Contemporary Art Centre Vilnius, Centre Georges Pompidou, Hordaland Kunstsenter, Centre International d’art et du paysage de l’île de Vassivière, Center For Contemporary Art Futura, Jan van Eyck and De Appel among others. Jason completed a Master of Fine Art at the Piet Zwart Institute, and was a participant at the Jan van Eyck. He lives and works in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

「FUSE 駐留藝術家 – Jason Hendrik Hansma：Opal​​ine（Lattimo）」的開幕將伴隨著藝術家講座，Jason Hendrik Hansma將與來自香港教育大學的林巧羚博士對談，並由錄映太奇的節目經理梁安琦主持。兩位講者將在講座與觀眾交流，討論關於容器的概念與陶瓷和玻璃的模擬關係。

錄映太奇將與場地贊助保良局的藝術家駐留空間V54合作，為Jason Hendrik Hansma舉辦一個讀書會。讀書會將在晚上舉行，Hansma將呈現一個只有獨白近似劇院的環境，在一個黑暗的房間朗讀他的文章，以不同的角度闡釋他的藝術實踐。
