SHEK Sophia石晶瑩

Born in Scotland Sophia Shek (42) graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, in Dundee.

Sophia is very active in the LGBT scene in Hong Kong and notably worked on ​The Pantry (Hong Kong 2013) which was released the day before the chief executive’s policy address to create awareness and the unfair treatment LGBT in the workplace. Sophia is also a programmer for Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film Festival (HKLGFF) which is celebrating it’s 30th year in 2019. Sophia’s latest gay short film “Deliver Boy” started it’s festival earlier this year. “Kaspar X – If I had a soul” (2015) is an award winning transgender short film that still makes appearances at film festival, this year at Women’s Festival 2019 in Hong Kong.

Embracing her multi-cultural background, ​Sophia Shek​ gives life to all her work by combining the different perspectives with her own artistry.

Shek’s line producing work has seen her working on TV commercials for companies like Standard Chartered and Qantas, as well as music videos for international stars like Super Junior and Reik, in which her “One More Time (Otro Vez)” video has already accumulated over 39 million views on Youtube.

As an established producer, Shek’s feature film projects include ​Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong​ (2015), Love Stalk​ (2016), ​I Miss You When I See You (​ 2018), and ​Go Back to China​ (2019) which had its world premiere at SXSW 2019.

Shek has also taken part in Hollywood productions, acting as Assistant Director to Oliver Stone on Snowden ​(2015), Michael Bay on ​Transformers IV: Age of Extinction ​(2014), and Alan Taylor on ​Thor: The Dark World (​ 2013), adding to her diverse portfolio of work.
