Sound arts star Zbigniew Karkowski will join force with the Hong Kong laboratory musician Dickson Dee in the [Staticizer Tour 2009] at Videotage on October 8th.

The concert will be a milestone of Zbigniew Karkowski and Dickson Dee's music journey since their collaboration in the album, "Revenge of Ying And Yang" in 2005. They met 2 years ago during Zbignieew's tour in China and since then the two have performed and collaborated repeatedly. They first initiate to produce an album together in 2004 and after a year of hard work, "Revenge of Ying And Yang" had finally came to live in 2005, which features live clips from their concerts and studio recorded music. The collaboration have been influential and have pushed their music to new directions. After exploring noise and experimental music for over 10 years, Zbigniew have gradually moved to the creation of ambient and environmental music. He thinks that in order to have a better understand about ourselves and the planet, artists in the present day have the responsible to travel and work around the World. He also strongly believes that geographical, political and social exile is a necessary condition for true and honest creation. He is not interested in the traditional definition of music, in his opinion, all musical theory and systems, as cultural concepts must be destroyed. In his latest work, his main concern is to realize drama with sound - electronic and acoustic walls with the architectures of ruins transcribed in the scores.

Since the release of his solo album “PAST” in 1996, Dickson has began to set foot on the creation field with musical styles ranging from avant garde to experimental, music concrete, electronic, new classical, industrial noise, dance, electronic world jazz etc. He has collaborated with many artists, and set up his personal label Dicksonia Audio beside Noise Asia, which concentrates on the release and publishing of his own works. This provides more freedom and convenience to further develop his creativity.

Dickson Dee

Dickson Dee has been engaged in the music industry for more than 20 years. His career started from importing European independent labels to Hong Kong, China and Taiwan; followed by establishing his own music label, organizing concerts etc. His experience includes distribution, import/export, creation, publishing, promotion, artist management and other kinds of works in the industry. He has made a great contribution to the development of independent music in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.

Besides concerts, Dickson also appears in arts academy and university for workshops and lectures to share his experiences with students, hoping to trigger their interest on sound art and music; furthermore, to give them a better understanding on the different aspects of music.

Zbigniew Karkowski
Zbigniew was born in Cracow, Poland and has lived and studied in Sweden, Netherlands and Tokyo. He works actively as a composer of instrumental music, electro-acoustic media compositions and computer music; as well as music for film, video, theatre and dance. He was a member of an internationally acclaimed 'music/technology' group SENSORBAND with which he often performed network concerts via ISDN or Internet.

He has also given workshops and lectures worldwide, collaborated with several experimental groups and artists. He has extensively toured and his music has been performed at over 70 experimental music festivals worldwide. Including ”Music und Dokumenta -Kassel”, “Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik -Darmstad”, ”International Computer Music Conference”-Cologne, ”Ars Electronica”-Linz, Stockholm Electroacoustic Music Festival, ”Sonick Acts”-Amsterdam, "Meltdown Festival curated by John Peel" - London, "ICMF - International Computer Music Festival" - Kob, " First Electronic Music Festival" -Beijing, "Weatherbrain festival" -Taipei.

Sin:Ned
Sin:Ned (Wong Chung-fai), an idiosyncratic writer and a sonic artist from Hong Kong, who hacks and twists anything he can put his hands on. Used to be one of the major contributing writers of the legendary Hong Kong alternative music magazine MCB (Music Colony B-Weekly). While not writing as a pseudo-music critic elaborating his esoteric worldview, in the same idiosyncratic fashion, he spends much of his time hacking and sculpting sonic materials with his laptop and various electronic gears. His interest ranges widely from improvisation, sound art, experimental music, and noise art to field recordings. He had taken part and performed in various festivals and exhibitions such as HK Sound and Vision Festival (2003), Get It Louder (2007), Hong Kong & Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (2007). His first two solo works, “Uroborus: A Study On No-input Device” and “60 Seconds: A Schizophrenic Manual for Eternity”, were both released by Lona Records in 2006. He is not only member of the electro-acoustic concept duo No One Pulse and laptop trio iii, but also co-founder of the experimental imprint Re-Records.

聲音藝術界明星級人物卡科夫斯基，再次和香港實驗音樂家李勁松中國巡演。 是次演出將呈現卡科夫斯基與李勁松二人共同合作的作品。近兩年來卡科夫斯基曾多次來華演出，並由此與李勁松結識。在多次的同台演出和音樂創作上的切磋後，04年二人萌生了共同制作一張專輯的念頭。經過一年多的努力，一張集結了二人多場現場演出的音樂片段和錄音室作品的專輯“Revenge of Ying And Yang”(陰陽復仇記)終於在05年末推出。隨著唱片的出版，卡科夫斯基和李勁松的音樂創作也開始邁向新的方向。經過十多年在實驗噪音方面的探索，卡科夫斯基已表示將逐步把觸覺延伸到Ambient（環境）音樂方面。所以此次演出也將是二人在“Revenge of Ying And Yang”專輯後，音樂創作新動向的一個風向標。

藝術家簡介

卡科夫斯基目前長期定居在日本，是近年來最為活躍、最具影響力的實驗電子/噪音樂手之一。他從上世紀90年代中開始，在眾多著名實驗廠牌出版唱片，並與多位知名實驗樂手合作，更曾被邀請參加70場以上的著名前衛音樂節。他的音樂創作十分廣泛，當代古典、工業音樂、實驗音樂，乃至流行音樂均有涉足。多年來他的作品在歐洲、北美、澳洲多個國家和日本獲得演出。其音樂懸疑性高，內容及結果無法預測，特別著重於拓展人類聽覺功能之極限。作品在美日澳歐各地演出。現為國際知名高科技多媒體互動表演團體“感應器樂團” （Sensorband）的主要成員之一。

李勁松為香港實驗音樂家、音樂活動家。他身體力行推動華人地下/實驗音樂十餘年，其創立的香港著名獨立唱片公司Sound Factory（后改稱Noise Asia），一直與內地搖滾/獨立音樂保持著密切的聯繫。曾出版發行王磊、左小祖咒與 NO樂隊、陳底裡、王勇、王凡等國內一流音樂人的專集。作為音樂活動家和音樂活動策劃人，他發起過很多具有相當高學術品質的活動，如05年廣州現代音樂節。上世紀90年代末，李勁松開始自己制作音樂。由於豐富的聽覺積累和唱片制作經驗，他的音樂創作受到國際和國內的廣泛關注。其先後出版的“Pass”和 “Sunday”專輯都獲得了國內外的好評。從某種程度上說，他的音樂代表了華人實驗音樂創作的最高水平。

Sin:Ned (黃仲輝)，樂評人、實驗電音及聲音藝術創作人。 Sin:Ned 最早出現於香港另類音樂雜誌 MCB (音樂殖民地)，擅長以實驗性文體及偏險的理論化角度進行音樂論述。 同時沉迷鑽研逆向性的實驗聲音創作，和反傳統的發聲技巧。所指涉的範疇包括即興演奏、聲音藝術、實驗音樂、噪音藝術及田野錄音。曾參與及出演過《香港視野音樂節》、《大聲展》、《深圳香港城市\建築双城双年展等藝術展》。他的首兩張個人作品《Uroborus: A Study On No-input Device》 及 《60 Seconds: A Schizophrenic Manual For Eternity》，均於2006年發表於Lona Records名下。他不但是概念電聲學二人組No One Pulse及筆記本電腦三人組iii的成員，同時亦是實驗音樂廠牌Re-Records的創辦人之一。
